Karen M. Stockmal, Esquire

Karen is the founder of KMS Law Offices, providing sophisticated legal services in the areas of estate planning, estate administration, business succession planning and fiduciary counseling. Born and raised in King of Prussia, Karen spent nine years as an associate in Pepper Hamilton’s Trusts and Estates practice before opening KMS Law Offices.

Karen was elected as a Fellow to the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel in 2013. For more than 15 years she has been an active leader in the Probate Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association, having served as the Chair of its Education Committee, an Executive Committee Member and in 2014, the Section Chair. Karen is a frequent author and lecturer and has spoken before the Probate Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Montgomery County Estate Planning Council and the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council, at an annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. She recently served as a guest lecturer on the topic of Estate Planning for Owners with S Corporation Stock for Temple University’s LL.M. Program. Her most recent publications have appeared in the Philadelphia Lawyer and the Journal of Taxation, where her work continues to be routinely cited. She also authored the chapter, “Wills” in Estate Planning in Pennsylvania (PBI, 2013).

Karen earned her B.A. in psychology in 1991 from Bucknell University, her M.A. in theatre history in 1993 from Indiana University, and her J.D. in 1999 from the Temple University School of Law.

She lives with her husband, two children and cockapoo, Rosie, in Chester County.
